Saturday brings with it a Fair Housing Workshop, hosted by the Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission, to offer education and support to anyone looking for information related to housing and their rights concerning it.
Speaking with WHOP recently, HRC Executive Director Raychel Farmer and organizer Nikki Chambers gave details on what fair housing means and who could benefit from this workshop—the answers being anyone involved in housing, including tenants, landlords, property managers, real estate agents and more.
Farmer says the event is free to attend and will be Saturday at the Pennyrile Area Development District office board room at Hammond Drive in Hopkinsville starting at 8 a.m. She says the day will start with highlighting federal laws and how they impact our local communities.
Chambers says they’ll have members of Code Enforcement on hand, a breakout session detailing the home buying process and more.
They say they’ll have numerous speakers on hand bringing educational content to attendees and answering questions.
Registration is required for this event, so those interested are asked to do so on the Human Rights Commission website or give them a call at 270-887-4010. The theme for Fair Housing Month in 2024 is The “ACT” in Action.
