Local students chosen to attend the Gatton Academy

The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science has selected 95 Kentucky students to be in the Class of 2026, including students from Christian, Todd and Hopkins counties.

According to a news release, Adelaide Ogilvy of Hopkinsville High School has been chosen to attend, along with Bryan Michael Zimmerman of Todd County High School. From Madisonville North High School in Hopkins County, Lucy Gast, Virginia Woehler and EJ Williams have all been chosen to attend the prestigious Gatton Academy.

The Gatton Academy resides on the campus of Western Kentucky University and is designed to provide a residential program to students from high schools across the Commonwealth. Students enhance their creativity, curiosity, reasoning ability, and self-discipline through the companionship of peers, university courses, faculty-led research, and study abroad, preparing them for leadership roles in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Applicants were evaluated based on ACT/SAT scores, high school grades, awards and accomplishments, extracurricular activities, responses to essay and short answer questions, and recommendation forms.
