Christian County Public School system Communications Director, Johnna Brown was awarded the OV Jones Memorial Award for excellence in school public relations from the Kentucky School Public Relations Association (KYSPRA) on Monday.
According to a press release from KYSPRA, the award is a top honor for school public relations in the state. Brown has been working in the CCPS communications department for the last 12 years, and for the last three years she has served as director of the department.
Upon receiving the award, Brown says she was initially at a loss for words, but shared that being selected for the award among such a dedicated group of school public relations professionals is humbling.
Brown was nominated by Mary Mac Dyer the public relations coordinator for the Western Kentucky Educational Cooperative. Dyer says many fellow public relations directors, including herself, look to Brown for guidance on a number of school public relation matters.
