The Wood Shed Bar-B-Q & Restaurant is a family-owned establishment that has been a staple in Hopkinsville for decades and on Thursday they celebrated their 40th anniversary of business in the community.
Brothers Jeremy and Jarred Mathis are third generation owners of The Wood Shed which was opened by Wilda Mathis, the pair’s grandmother on March 14, 1984. Jeremy Mathis shared that his grandmother started the restaurant after she quit her factory job and is happy the restaurant is still providing barbecue eats to the community today.
To recognize the milestone, on Thursday Mathis says they are celebrating with throwback prices. For the first pound of pork a customer purchases they will be charged $5 the price a pound of pork was in 1984.
Mathis says the community has been great to them and because of their support they have been able to stay in business. Mathis says they have patrons that dine with them multiple times a week and in the past multiple times a day.
The Wood Shed Bar-B-Q & Restaurant is located at 1821 West 7th Street and they are open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. Their anniversary prices are only available on Thursday.
