Christian Fiscal Court approves radio system ordinance, tornado siren project measures

Christian Fiscal Court approved an ordinance on second-reading and approved further measures relating to the outdoor tornado siren project.

The ordinance allows the Fiscal Court to enter into an agreement with the Kentucky Association of Counties to pave the way for funding the upgrades to the county’s radio system, to allow for expanding and overall radio better coverage for first responders. It was approved unanimously.

The siren warning project continues in the county, with Emergency Management Director Randy Graham saying three sirens have already been covered by a federal grant, but they had to delay the grant application on a fourth tower due to have to change the location. But they’re ready to move forward with their plans now.

Three of the four towers are in place, with two in Oak Grove and one in Pembroke—the fourth tower will be erected in Hopkinsville at the new fire station.

The project was approved unanimously by magistrates.  In other action, magistrates approved declaration of surplus from both the Christian County Sheriff’s Department and the Christian County Jail.
