Regional high school students receive Rosemary Pace Scholarship

Nine high school seniors were awarded the Rosemary Pace Scholarship for their achievements in their school’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapters on Thursday.

According to a news release from Henrietta Kemp the Rosemary pace Scholarship Chair the following students were each awarded $500 academic scholarships at the FCCLA Region Two Spring meeting:

  • Briahna Harper, Livingston Central High School
  • Keira Chaney, Crittenden County High School
  • Marley Phelps, Crittenden County High School
  • Courtney Blackwell, Webster County High School
  • Erika Noffsinger, Webster County High School
  • Amber Chaptman, Lyon County High School
  • Allie Holt, Lyon County High School
  • Taylor Jenkins, Lyon County High School
  • Emma Argo, Lyon County High School

Kemp shares that the scholarship was started in 1980 by Rosemary Pace after her retirement from teaching home economics or what is now known as family and consumer sciences. Pace was well known in the region and taught home economics at South Christian High School. Bethel College and Fort Campbell schools.

Following her retirement Pace went on to be a community leader and participate in multiple professional organizations such as the American Home Economics Organization, the Farm Bureau’s Women Committee, The Pennyrile Area Chapter of the University of Kentucky College of Home Economics Alumni Association and much more according to the news release.

Kemp says the scholarship has awarded over $87,000 to more than 400 students in the region since its inception.
