Campanile invites the community to their production of “Cinderella”

It’s show week for Campanile Productions and they are inviting the community to attend their retelling of Rodger and Hammerstein’s Broadway musical, “Cinderella” at the Alhambra Theater.

Jeff Riggs from Campanile’s Board of Directors appeared on WHOP on Monday to talk about what they have in store for the community this week. Riggs says they are excited to tell Cinderella’s story as well as put their own spin on the well-known tale.

Cinderella will be played by Chastity Mumford a past Hoptown Idol winner, and Riggs shared that this musical will be her theater debut. To promote their show, Mumford and her fellow cast members have hosted a pop-up concert, a tea party, a story time and a character breakfast with local students.

To produce the show, Riggs says they focused on costuming and that costume rentals alone cost around $20,000, so they hope to recoup those funds and make sure they are well prepared for the shows in their upcoming season.

Next season, Riggs says they plan to host showings of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “A Christmas Carol” and “9 to 5: The Musical.”

With the production of “Cinderella,” Riggs says there is bound to be some magic and hopes the community attends and witnesses the talent the community has.

The show is family friendly and has a runtime of around two hours. Campanile will host seven showings of “Cinderella.” from Wednesday to Sunday. On each day there will be an evening showing at 7 p.m. with Wednesday being their pay what you can show and Saturday and Sunday will feature to matinee showings at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets and more information about their shows are available at campanileproductions.com.
