Hopkinsville man charged with second-degree burglary

A Hopkinsville man is facing a second-degree burglary charge after he broke into a house and was held at gunpoint by a neighbor Tuesday morning.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers responded to reports of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 100 block of Bella Court and upon arrival, found that a neighbor had the suspect, 18-year-old Charles Gamblin of Hopkinsville, held at gunpoint.

The homeowner told officers that he had heard a loud knock at his door and when he realized he did not know who was at the door, told him he had the wrong house.  That’s when Gamblin allegedly kicked in the door.  Gamblin and the homeowner began fighting in the door and the out onto the front porch.

The neighbor heard the fight and grabbed his firearm, stopping the fight and waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

Gamblin reportedly muttered that he was drunk and broke in the wrong house. Gamblin was lodged in the Christian County Jail on a second-degree burglary charge.
