Parks and Recreation Superintendent talks spring events

As spring approaches, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Toby Hudson appeared on WHOP to share what they have in store for the community.

To kick-off their spring events, Parks and Recreation is partnering with WHOP to host their Nighttime WHOP’ER of an Egg Hunt at 7:30 p.m. on March 29 at Tie Breaker Park.

Hudson says there will be five separate hunts for children two years of age or younger, 3-to-4 years old, 5-to-6 years old, 7-to-8 years old and for children with special needs. In total around 20,000 eggs will be hidden around the park. While a majority of eggs will be filled with candy some will have raffle tickets and following the hunt a $98.70 prize will be raffled off.

After Easter, Hudson says they will start their baseball tournaments in April and their Sounds on the Square series and Movies in the Park series will kick-off in May.

Hudson also shared that repairs are underway at Bluegrass Splash water park after the Hopkinsville City Council amended their budget to allocate $125,000 to the repairs. Hudson says they are hoping to be able to open by Memorial Day Weekend but that is to be determined.
