A Christian County Grand Jury handed down indictments for a suspected manslaughter, assault, sex related crimes and more on Friday.
In December 2023, Debbie Elliot of Hopkinsville was arrested in relation to the overdose death of Gladys Henry. According to a report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, Henry was found deceased at a residence on West 20th Street on December 8, and a medical examiner found that her death was the result of an overdose on methamphetamine and fentanyl.
Elliot was indicted on charges of second-degree manslaughter, trafficking in a controlled substance for fentanyl derivatives, first-and-second-degree possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining prescription drugs in an inappropriate container and four counts of resisting arrest.
Alijajuan Williams of Cerulean was indicted on charges for rape and a burglary incident, both which occurred in December. For the reported rape, Williams was indicted on charges of first-degree rape, first-degree strangulation, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and third-degree terroristic threatening.
For the burglary incident, Williams was indicted on charges of two counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree strangulation and two counts of fourth-degree assault.
Daniel Ray of Hopkinsville was indicted on assault related charges from an incident on January 21. Ray was indicted on charges of second-degree strangulation and fourth-degree assault.
Thomas Welch of Hopkinsville was indicted on charges in relation to an incident where he reportedly forced a woman into his vehicle and fled from local officers on January 2. Welch was indicted on charges of first-degree criminal mischief, first degree fleeing or evading police, failure to produce an insurance card, improper traffic signal and disregarding a stop sign.
