Hopkinsville will be home to the regional qualifying round of the Scripps Spelling Bee, and Visit Hopkinsville says the event is open to the public.
Attendees will be able to cheer on the 26 students in grades three through eight that have earned their way to this qualifying round of the spelling bee, through competitions at their individual schools.
Along with Christian County, six other Kentucky counties will be represented on the stage of the Alhambra Theater this Saturday starting at 2 p.m. The top three spellers will earn a place at the national Scripps Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C. later this year.
