Department of wildlife announces new hunting license options

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources announced that hunting and fishing licenses for the upcoming permit year are on sale now and additional licensing options are available for hunters and fishers.

A news release from the department shares that the 2024-2025 license year starts on March 1 and runs through February 28 of 2025. Those interested can purchase licenses for basic hunting and fishing and additional permits are available for those hunting a specific species.

A new license option has been introduced for state residents 65 years or older called the Senior Lifetime Sportsman’s License. The license costs $180 and includes hunting and fishing licenses, plus permits for trout, deer, turkey, game birds and waterfowl. This license only requires a one-time purchase.

There are also new options for nonresidents with the intent of hunting bears. Youth bear permits, bear chase permits and youth bear chase permits are now available.
