Officers from the Hopkinsville Police Department arrested Joshua Fox of Hopkinsville for drug trafficking after a vehicle and body search reportedly yielded methamphetamine and fentanyl derivatives on Saturday.
According to a report from police, Fox was witnessed driving a vehicle south on South Liberty Street when he allegedly stopped to turn right onto East Ninth Street. Fox initiated his turn signal after reportedly getting into the turning lane before turning which resulted in the responding officer performing a traffic stop on Fox.
Fox was allegedly unable to produce insurance for the vehicle and seemed to be acting nervously, looking around and reaching around the vehicle. As a result of his behavior, officers reportedly asked Fox to step out of the vehicle to which he resisted doing.
Once Fox was detained, a K9 reportedly performed a free air sniff at the scene and alerted to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle allegedly yielded suspected methamphetamine and a large amount of cash was found on Fox’s person.
As he was being lodged in the Christian County Jail, a body scan allegedly revealed a bag tucked in his pants which contained bags what Fox said was fentanyl.
Fox was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance for methamphetamine, trafficking in a controlled substance for fentanyl, first-degree promoting contraband, failure to signal, failure to produce vehicle insurance, tampering with physical evidence and resisting arrest.
