Local attorney passes away in the Virgin Islands

A longtime, well known local attorney has passed away while travelling in the Virgin Islands.

Kenneth Haggard was in the Virgin Islands visiting St. Thomas with family when he passed away on January 30—according to the Virgin Islands Daily News, police believe the cause of death to be drowning.

Public Information Officer Chris Watson with St. Thomas Rescue told media that officers were notified of a CPR in progress and they responded in less than four minutes, where they began lifesaving measures. Haggard was transported to Schneider Hospital, where he would later pass away.

Watson says they commend the actions of bystanders who took actions to save life.

Haggard has been serving as a lawyer in western Kentucky since 1984 since his admission to the Bar, and since then earned numerous honors, including Kentucky Super Lawyer, being named a Kentucky Colonel and a Named Life Fellow with the Kentucky Bar Foundation.
