CCPS Superintendent talks realignment, changes to upcoming school year

There are a lot of changes coming to the Christian County Public School System, and the Superintendent explained some of the realignments Monday morning.

Speaking with WHOP, Superintendent Chris Bentzel says there’s a lot of information to absorb and they’ll be working to make the realignment of districts and schools as painless as possible for the 2024-2025 school year.  Sixth grade is moving back to the middle schools, while students and staff from Indian Hills will move to the current Hopkinsville Middle School campus and HMS will move to the current Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary campus.

Bentzel say families will start receiving information soon detailing the changes, and they intend to launch a website where people will be able to easily find out what school their child will attend.

Fourth grade students that want to stay at their current school next year, along with ninth, tenth and eleventh grade students, will have the option to “grandfather-in” and those applications will be accepted until March 8.

Bentzel also reminds parents that kindergarten registration for the 24-25 school year is coming up fast, on March 1, and then its time to start thinking of the next school year already.  For more information, visit Christian County Public Schools on Facebook.
