CCSO charges Cook following pursuit

The Christian County Sheriff’s Department has once again taken Earl Cook Jr. into custody following a vehicle pursuit Monday.

According to a news release, deputies were informed that Cook was allegedly in possession of a vehicle that had been reported stolen from Central City and when deputies attempted to make contact with Cook, he reportedly fled at a high rate of speed in the vehicle.

The pursuit continued behind the old Family Dollar Store on East Seventh, where the vehicle became pinned between a dumpster and a cruiser, causing the vehicle to become in-operable. 

Cook allegedly attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.  He reportedly was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, over 100 doses of suspected fentanyl, marijuana and a loaded handgun.  A search reportedly revealed four bottles of suspected liquid steroids. 

Cook is charged with two counts of fleeing or evading police, trafficking in meth, trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in marijuana, first-degree wanton endangerment, felony receiving stolen property, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, use of restricted ammo during commission of a felon and numerous traffic-related charges. 

At the time of this pursuit, Cook was out on bond for similar charges in relation to numerous pursuits.
