Western Kentucky missed out on the icy weather happening to our north and west, but what it won’t miss out on is rain this week—even though it is being brought in by warmer temperatures.
Derrick Snyder with the National Weather Service in Paducah says many areas will finally reach above freezing for the first time in over a week on Monday, with some places maybe even reaching the 40’s.
Those warmer temperatures will continue throughout the week, with Snyder saying they will bring with them an active weather pattern that will result in a good amount of rain in the area.
Some places, especially parts of western Kentucky, could see heavy rains at times on Wednesday into Thursday, where any thunderstorms that develop train in the same locations.
There’s no sign of severe weather in the forecast at this time.
Officials did want to remind people that the weather radar near Evansville, Indiana will be down the next two weeks as it undergoes major upgrades. All surrounding radars remain up and available.
