Joy Closet invites mothers, sons to compete in nerf gun war

Joy Closet Executive Director, Heather Gray appeared on WHOP recently and shared updates regarding the nonprofit’s upcoming third annual Mother and Son Nerf Gun Wars.

Joy Closet is a local nonprofit with the mission of helping foster and kinship children who may have been removed from their homes. The nonprofit provides activities for children and resources such as clothes and toys.

Mother and son Nerf Gun Wars is hosted in partnership with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and the Hopkinsville Police Department and serves to provide family fun time while also raising money toward the nonprofit’s mission. Gray says she is exciting to be hosting the event again and shares that they have pushed back the original start time.

Tickets for the event have been on sale since December and Gray says they have completely sold out one Nerf Gun War and are almost sold out for a second war. However, Gray says there are still tickets available.

For the Nerf Gun Wars, Gray says sons and mothers will have the opportunity to play as a team and play against each other. In each war teams will go head-to-head in capture the flag fashion, and the team that retrieves the stuffed animal from the opposing team wins.

Gray says they allow for bonus mothers and stand-in mothers to participate in the battle as well.

Tickets and more information about the Nerf Gun War is available at joycloset.org.
