Hopkinsville Community College is set to host a Hopkinsville Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (HOPFAME) open house to provide information for those interested in pursuing a career in advanced manufacturing.
The HOPFAME program is a partnership between HCC and around 20 regional manufacturers, educational institutions, and community organizations with the purpose of creating apprenticeship-style training opportunities for students and connect them to advanced manufacturing job opportunities.
According to a news release from HCC, students in the HOPFAME program will attend classes two days a week while working an apprenticeship with a program sponsoring manufacturer in the region allowing students to apply what they have learned in class.
HOPFAME Success Coach, Mary-Rachel Leach says the hands-on, paid experience is ideal for high school graduates, military veterans, career-changers and upskilling current employees. Leach also says the work-and-learn format also allows students earn a degree with little or no debt.
Along with focusing on job training, the program also addresses soft skills such as attendance, communication, teamwork and more.
The open house is on February 13 and the deadline to apply and be a part of the 2024 HOPFAME cohort is March 1. Those interested in the program can learn more and apply at hopkinsville.kctcs.edu/workforce-solutions under the HOPFAME tab.
Students who are selected will have the opportunity of working with manufacturers such as Brazeway, Huhtamaki, Novelis and much more.
