Details have been released by the Hopkinsville Police Department regarding a train versus vehicle collision on East Seventh Street Monday afternoon.
According to the report, the collision happened at the railroad crossing on East Seventh and the flashing lights and bells were activated to indicate a train was coming. The front of a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Christina Linares of Hopkinsville entered the path of the train and the two collided.
Linares told officers Door Dashing and asked what happened, but was unable to give further statements at the scene and was transported to Tennova Healthcare for treatment of severe injuries.
A witness told officers that it appeared that Linares had attempted to stop but slid onto the tracks due to wintry conditions.
