Local Grand Jury returns indictments for drug, assault related crimes

A Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments for cases regarding assault, drug related crimes, sex crimes and more on Friday. 

Traivaun Buckner of Hopkinsville was arrested for an incident in November where he reportedly used force on a victim to engage in sexual intercourse. Buckner is charged with first-degree rape, first-degree domestic violence, kidnapping, first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault domestic violence and other lesser charges. 

Further in regard to assaults, Phillip Robnet of Hopkinsville was arrested and charged with second-degree assault domestic violence after an incident where Robnett reportedly assaulted his mother. 

Donta Taylor of Hopkinsville was indicted on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12 in September. 

Turning toward drug trafficking cases, Jonathon Walton of Hopkinsville was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for opiates and tampering with physical evidence. In the same incident with Walton, Scotty Jones of Hopkinsville was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance for opiates, tampering with physical evidence, possession of marijuana and disregarding a stop sign in an incident in November.

Turning toward burglary cases, Travis Peterson and Theodore Maras both of Hopkinsville were charged with second-degree burglary for separate incidents that occurred in October. 

Jontel Harris of Hopkinsville was charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief in October after he unlawfully entered Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
