Attorney considers murder complicity charge dismissal for shooting suspects

After their pretrial conference last week, Zamarius Humphries and Jaquavion Spencer appeared in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday where Commonwealth’s Attorney, Maureen Leamy is considering dropping the pairs complicity to murder charges.

At their court appearance last week, Leamy said she was planning to dismiss the complicity charges, both Humphries and Spencer face. On Wednesday Leamy says she will know whether the charges will stand or be dismissed by January 31.

By January 31 Leamy says she will also know if the case can be settled or if a trial date needs to be made. Leamy says she is optimistic toward the dismissal of the charge, but still needs to talk with her investigator and the family of the victim.

Circuit Court Judge, Andrew Self detailed the remaining charges both men will still face if the complicity charges are dropped. Self also says if the complicity charges are dismissed, he is inclined to accepted the bond reduction request of Sands Chewning who is the pair’s defense attorney.

Humphries and Spencer will reappear in court on January 31.
