With the goal of raising $100,000 for this year’s Red Kettle Campaign, the Hopkinsville Salvation Army has surpassed their goal by raising around $109,000 so far.
Salvation Army Lieutenant, Lindsey Galabeas says over the course of the campaign, which ran from November 25 to December 23, they raised around $50,000 from their kettle campaign alone and have raised around $59,000 so far through mail-in donations.
Along with surpassing their fundraising goal Galabeas says they also beat their goal of having 700 bell ringing hours by four hours. Although the Salvation Army has already surpassed their donation goal, Galabeas says they are still recording donation amounts and that a complete total will be posted to their social media in January.
Galabeas says she and her husband, fellow Lieutenant, Roger Galabeas, have led three of the fundraising campaigns so far, but this is the first year where the pair exceeded their goal.
Galabeas says the Red Kettle Campaign is their biggest fundraiser that goes toward their everyday operations such as running their shelter, soup kitchen and supporting their case managers.
Galabeas says she appreciates the generosity of those who donated and those who participated in bell ringing.
The final fundraiser amount is set to be announced in January on the Hopkinsville Salvation Army Facebook page.
