A Hopkinsville man is facing a charge of second-degree assault after he allegedly struck a woman with a handgun Friday.
According to the Hopkinsville police report, officers were in the area of Younglove Street investigating an unrelated shots fired call when they were waved down by someone who told them an assault had occurred.
The female victim informed officers that she had allegedly been pistol-whipped by 62-year-old Willy White of Hopkinsville during disturbance. The victim reportedly had an abrasion and swelling on her forehead.
White was located a short time later and taken into custody—he allegedly admitted to possessing a handgun matching the description of the one used in the assault, but denied assaulting the victim.
