With the turn of the new year comes change, and for the first couple of weeks in January, the Christian County Clerks Office—along with every other Clerk’s Office in the state—will be closing their vehicle related services for updates.
That does mean that any vehicle related service, including registration, renewals, title transfers and more, will be down and unavailable for at least two weeks. Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries says this is to make way for the new service with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that they will be using—all other functions and services of the office will be operating as normal.
She believes the upgrade will be worth it, making for a faster process for customers and a more efficient one for her office. She says if you have something that needs renewing in 2024, you’ll have to wait until systems are back up, but if you have something that happens in 2023, she says you’d be wise to get it done now.
Along with those updates, something new that will start in Kentucky in January is Plate-To-Customer—Humphries says from now on, your license plate will stay with you when you sell your vehicle or buy a new one.
If you’re needing to get a vehicle related service done before the turn of the year, the Clerk’s Office is open as normal this week except for Wednesday, which is a half-day. Then, they’re open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. December 27 and 28 before the statewide shutdown begins on January 2.
