As we head towards a new session of the Kentucky General Assembly in January, local legislators are preparing to make a budget and see some of their own priorities addressed.
Speaking with the Pennyrile Area Development District Board of Directors recently, Representatives Chris Freeland of Lyon, Marshall and McCracken Counties and Representative Wade Williams of Hopkins County says they’re eager to get to work come January.
Representative Freeland says he has a bill that would help expand dental services in the state, especially to those who may have an insurance that is not typically accepted in dentist offices—it would allow Kentuckians to receive the dental care they need.
He says he’s also focused on getting more support for infrastructure projects at the riverports, especially in Eddyville, and updating wastewater infrastructure.
Representative Williams says he wants to reign in changing the energy system completely from fossil fuels, to help keep power supply stable during the transition.
He says he’s also focused on fiscal responsibility at the state level, and would be looking to see what can be done make responsible cuts where necessary.
This will be a budget session, where legislators will be responsible for passing a two-year spending plan for the Commonwealth. There are many things up for discussion, including
