Local rehabilitation nonprofit, Grace and Mercy invites the community to support their mission by purchasing their fudge and to participate in a holiday fundraiser to provide Christmas gifts to resident’s families.
Grace and Mercy is a one to two year Christian nonprofit program that opened in 2015 and provides support and housing to women who have recently been incarcerated in order to help them find employment and reunite with their children. Paula Halcomb, a Grace and Mercy board member and volunteer says those who return to the same environment they were living in before their incarceration it can be easy to get caught back up in a similar situation that led them to getting in trouble with the law the first time.
Working with the nonprofit, Halcomb helps support their fudge business. Grace and Mercy have been selling a variety of fudge flavors since 2016. Halcomb says for the holiday season they have festive flavors available which can make for good gifts while supporting the nonprofit.
The proceeds go toward providing resources for their residents, and Halcomb says the fundraising is crucial because they do not rely on any state or federal funding since they are faith based.
Along with their long running fudge fundraiser, Halcomb says they have partnered with Rooms for Less and is asking for support from the community to donate money or gifts for residents and their families to be able to have a good Christmas. The fundraiser concludes on December 20 and all of the money raised by the community will be matched by Rooms for Less.
Following the holidays, Halcomb says on February 22 the nonprofit will be hosting a ceremony for their residents who have graduated from the program. Those interested in purchasing fudge can do so at the Grace and Mercy Thrift Store at 2412 Fort Campbell Blvd. Those interested in supporting the nonprofit’s Christmas fundraiser can drop off their donations at Rooms for Less at 2608 Fort Campbell Blvd.
