Efforts continue with the City of Hopkinsville to construct a new fire station near the Walmart Distribution Center on Fort Campbell Boulevard.
Speaking with WHOP recently, Mayor J.R. Knight says they are committed to getting that fire station up and going—and it will take a good amount of their bonding capacity to do so—because public safety is a top priority.
The mayor says the location is to help provide better coverage, both fire and EMS, to residents in that area, which have been somewhat underserved, along with nearby industries.
The fire station—station five—would be located on Walton Way. There are also plants for a tornado siren to be placed in the same area.
