On Thursday night, inside Lyle Dunbar Gym, the Christian Co. Lady Colonels defeated Henderson Co. 63-52 in overtime.
For Christian Co. this game meant a little more than just a region game.
For the past 4 years Henderson Co. has had Christian County’s number and lunch money, with their most recent win coming in the regional tournament last year where Henderson won 66-33.
And although some seniors from that group and the head coach departed, the jerseys stayed the same and Christian Co. wanted revenge.
Henderson Co. 13 Christian Co. 11
Christian Co. 24 Henderson Co. 23
Christian Co. 39 Henderson Co. 38
Henderson Co. 52- Christian Co. 52
Those were the scores at the end of each quarter. What may first catch the eye in these numbers is how close the game was throughout the night.
However, if you look a bit closer you’ll notice that Henderson Co. finished in overtime with the same amount of points they ended with in the 4th quarter.
After allowing Atylia Green for Henderson Co. to drive coast-to-coast for the buzzer-beating floater to force OT, Christian Co. buckled down and went on an 11-0 in the extra period.
Christian Co. was once again geared by their young trio of Anaysia Bagwell, Lazarie Daniel, and NeVaeh Day.
