City of Hopkinsville officials have received some training awards from the Kentucky League of Cities.

According to a news release, the Kentucky League of Cities presented Mayor J.R. Knight and Councilmembers Steve Keel and Travis Martin with Level I Achievement in City Governance awards, while councilman Jason Bell and retired City Clerk Crissy Fletcher each received Level II Excellence in City Governance awards.

The Level I Achievement in City Governance award requires a city official to attend a minimum of 29 hours of approved training with one additional hour of ethics training. The Level II Excellence in City Governance award requires a city official to attend a minimum of 58 hours of approved training with two additional hours of ethics training.

The Kentucky League of Cities is host to the City Officials Training Center, which is a voluntary education program where city officials can choose to complete education levels by attending events and submitting outside educational credit.
