The Hopkinsville Fire Department is getting into the holiday spirit, with several community events and outreach programs taking place in December.
Speaking with WHOP News Thursday morning, Public Information Officer Payton Rogers says they’re looking for a few more sponsors for local families in need—sponsors provide items the family may need or want, to help them have a great Christmas this holiday season. Rogers says get a hold of Assistant Chief Chad Sivils at 270-890-1450 and he’ll get you signed up.
He says you’ll be assigned a family and get their wish list, which could include clothing, toys and various other items, and the fire department will also be taking monetary donations.
Donations will be accepted until December 15—and then, Santa Claus will be coming to town riding on a firetruck on December 17. He’ll cruise through different neighborhoods with the Hopkinsville Fire Department starting at 1 p.m. that day and Rogers says this has been a very popular event and they’ll have a GPS tracker on Santa again this year, so people can follow his progress.
The tracker can be found on the Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation Department website.
Rogers says they had a successful fundraising campaign selling t-shirts during October to support the local Pink Ribbon Network, and they’ll be looking to hand over the big check before too long.
