(Boys’ BB) UHA gets off to a blazin’ start in season opener against Ballard Memorial

On Monday, in the opening night of basketball for KHSAA the University Heights Blazers hosted and defeated the Ballard Memorial Bombers 70-43.

The game started off close with the Bombers being led by junior Jace Birney who scored the first 10 points of the game for Ballard Memorial.

After a 20-14 lead concluding the first quarter, the Blazers jumped out ahead scoring 25 points in the second period compared to Ballard’s 6.

Scoring for UHA was done in a cluster as four players scored in double figures.

Kyler Baker – 16

Que Quarles – 14

Gavin Grubbs – 13

Elijah Walton – 10

The defense for the Blazers was also suffocating for just about every Bomber except Birney who finished the evening with 26 points.

Next up for the Blazers will be a Saturday matchup against Page High School (Franklin, TN) at Hopkins Co. Central in the Cayce Mills Classic.
