Economic council partners with local college for retired military job program

With grant funds from the Tennessee Valley Authority, the South Western Economic Development Council is partnering with Hopkinsville Community College and Fort Campbell to create a work force training program for military members transitioning to a civilian career path.

In a news release on Tuesday, Council Executive Director Carter Hendricks shared that they were one of the recipients of the TVA’s Workforce Invest grant which focuses on addressing industry workforce needs.

The partnership program will provide members of the military with the opportunity to learn industrial maintenance and mechatronic skills. Community College Workforce Development Liaison, Lea Martin says they are excited to receive this grant and create more opportunities for those at Fort Campbell and work to meet workforce and industry needs.

The industrial maintenance and mechatronics program is set to launch in May 2024.
