Circuit judge swears in Leamy as County Commonwealth’s Attorney

After winning the race for Christian County Commonwealth’s Attorney on Tuesday, Maureen Leamy was informally was sworn in to her role and Greg Cortese was sworn in as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney on Wednesday.

Circuit Court Judge John Atkins swore in the pair with a Constitutional oath ahead of Wednesday’s afternoon court docket. The oath affirmed that the pair would fulfill their roles in good faith and to the best of their ability.

Atkins says they will host a formal ceremony at a later date. After she was sworn in Leamy started her work as Commonwealth’s Attorney on the Circuit Court’s 1 p.m. case docket.
