The day is here—tomorrow is Election Day, and everyone is encouraged to go out and cast their vote if they haven’t already.
Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries says the polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning and they’ll stay open until 6 p.m. If you’re in line at 6 p.m., you will be able to cast your ballot. There are 13 voting centers in Christian County where any one can vote, no matter where you live.
She says the voting center are scattered across Christian County to be as accessible as possible.
Humphries reminded everyone to take a photo ID when they go to vote, and if you requested a mail-in absentee ballot, make sure those are filled out and turned in by 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Trigg County has seven voting centers—Cerulean Baptist Church, East Golden Pond Fire Department, Emergency Operations Center, South Road Fire Department, Trigg County Recreation Complex, Trigg-Lyon Fire Department and The Way.
In Todd County, residents can cast their votes at North Todd Elementary, Todd County Courthouse, Todd County Middle School, Sharon Grove Fire Department, Clifty Fire Department, Todd County High School, Trenton Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Guthrie Fire Department, Allegre Volunteer Fire Department and Helen’s.
Humphries says early voting went very well in Christian County–as of 4 p.m. Saturday, when adding up the early voting totals, in-person absentee voting, the number of mail-in absentee votes, then 2,775 people cast their vote ahead of Tuesday’s election. That’s on track to beat the turnout in Christian County from the May 2023 primary election.
Early voting numbers are up across the state, with Secretary of State Michael Adams saying “Overall, 260,324 voters used early voting, up from 253,018 the same period in 2022.” He is still predicting a voter turnout in the state of about 42 percent.
