A man was transported to Jennie Stuart Medical Center Saturday afternoon after firefighters found him inside of an apartment filled with smoke.
Hopkinsville Fire and EMS Lt. Payton Rogers tells WHOP News that firefighters responded to the Pennyrile Village on Bassett Street around 5 p.m. for reports of a fire inside of an apartment. Upon arrival, crews found smoke banked down to the floor of the apartment, but no active fire.
A man was found unresponsive in a chair inside—he was removed and transported to Jennie Stuart with CPR in progress.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen of the apartment, and no other apartments were affected in the incident.
