County animal shelter invites community to Halloween pet adoption event

To unite people with that special furry family member, the Christian County Animal Shelter is hosting their Howl-O-Ween Adoption Event to adopt pets out and raise money for the shelter on Saturday.

Shelter Director, Melissa Goff shared that not only will pets be available for discounted adoption prices, but that there will be $8 microchipping services, food trucks, raffles and local business vendors selling merchandise with a portion of their proceeds going toward the shelter.

The proceeds will go toward the shelters Get Em Done Program that focuses on getting animals spayed or neutered.

Goff says other local animal shelters will be setting up and the shelter itself has over 200 pets that are ready to find their forever homes. Dog adoption fees will be discounted by $30 and cat adoption fees will be discounted by $10 and Goff says some pets will be free with the discount.

Goff says the adoption event comes at a time where the shelter’s animal intake has nearly doubled.

For Saturday’s adoption event, Goff says she looks forward to helping pets find forever homes. The Howl-O-Ween Adoption Event will be at the Christian County Animal Shelter tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
