HHS and CCHS Regional Cross Country Results

On a crisp autumn morning at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro Ky the 1st Region Cross country Championships were contested with each student athlete racing for that allusive place qualifying them into the state finals. The AAA class saw three Christian County runners earn those spots.
Junior, Taylor Morris earned the first ticket to state setting yet another
PR (20:56) closing ever closer to that school record now just 16 seconds away medaling in 10th place.

In the boys’ AAA Cayden Cline of Christian County set another PR (17:49.66) medaling in 15th place led the Colonels, also heading for state with Cline was Michael Webb in 18th place. Next on the team came Rex Taggart in 36th place, followed by Joseph Parker in 42nd, 45th place went to Wyatt Fleming, Aiden Knepper was 54th
place, and Hector Munoz finished in 55th place. The boys were 6th just missing going as a team by 15 points.

In AA Class Hopkinsville HS Tigers went to war. The Ladies took the race to the field battling high winds and placing five runners in the top 16 runners, to place second in the regional team race. It’s been 44 years since the lady tigers brought home a Regional Cross Country trophy. Lauren Mayes led the lady tigers in medaling in 6th, Kaydon Coats got the 9th place medal, 13th place medal belonged to  Rebecca Wood, Grace Cansler brought home the 15th place medal,  Alexis Herrera Loveto was 16th, 24th
place went to Evelyn Bangart and 32nd was Luanna Acree. The lady Tiger’s head to Lexington for the state finals on Saturday.

For the boys, Tyson Cavinder medaled in 10th place, DeAvery Ramey also brought home a medal in 15th place, 30th place was Kentrell Adams, 45th place went to LaMareon Jeffers, 49th place was Nicholas Herrera, and 52nd went to Cameron Ezell. The Tigers ran without there # 4 runner.
Ranked 6th in the region, the boys stepped up to the challenge tying for 5th with 141 points to Hopkins County Central only to lose the tie breaker. Two Runners Cavinder and Ramey qualified into the state finals for the boys.

12 runners total qualify: the lady tigers, one lady Colonel, and two boys
each from CCHS and HHS.
