Voter registration surged in Kentucky before deadline

Voter registration surged in Kentucky in the last 10 days before the voter registration deadline.

Secretary of State Michael Adams reports that 6,462 voters registered between October 1 and the 10th, and he reminded everyone that means the next step is right around the corner—to vote on November 7. He says, “Voter registration is just the start: don’t forget to vote on November 7th – or use the no-excuse early voting days we have provided, November 2nd-4th. Find your voting locations and times at govote.ky.gov.”

Republican registrants account for 46 percent of the electorate, with 1,602,958 voters, while Democratic registrants make up 44 percent of the electorate, with 1,527,115 voters. There are 354,754 voters registered under other political parties, 10 percent of the electorate.

In those last 10 days, Secretary Adam’s office always removed 1,803 voters, the bulk of which were deceased, some that had moved out of state and roughly 21 that were judged mentally incompetent, along with 20 that voluntarily de-registered.
