Local library invites community to Halloween events

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library is a getting into the Halloween spirit and is hosting events for community members of all ages.

Mari-Alice Jasper from the library appeared on WHOP to share what they have in store for the community. Jasper says they have Halloween events for children and more mature events for adults.

Starting on Friday, Jasper shares that they are host a beginner’s sewing class in the morning and in the evening their will be a Halloween horror trivia and costume contest for those 18 and older. Jasper says the sewing class will be hosted by library Executive director, Tiffany Luna, and attendees will be able to sew felt pumpkins.

Those interested in attending the class are not required to bring any of their own supplies but do need to register, by calling the library at 270-887-4262. The class is from 9 a.m. to noon.

Activities get a bit spookier into the evening with a costume contest and a Halloween horror trivia which will test participants knowledge of horror movies, literature and Halloween lore. The trivia and costume contest will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Another event the library is hosting for adults is a discussion called the Morbid, Macabre and Disgusting, Records of Genealogical Value which surrounds Kentucky outlaws, deadly tornadoes and state legends. The event will be on Thursday, October 26 at 5 p.m.

For children in the community, Jasper says the library will be hosting a magic show featuring magician Mark Comley on Saturday, October 28 at 4:30 p.m. Jasper says the event is for everyone, but is especially for the kids.
