A Hopkinsville man has been sentenced to ten years and one month in federal prison on gun related charges.
According to a news release, 30-year-old Marquez Penman will serve that time followed by three years of supervised release, for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. In May of 2022, Penman possessed a handgun in both Todd and Logan counties, even though he was prohibited from having a firearm due to previously being convicted for felony offenses such as first-degree robbery and second-degree robbery.
There is no parole in the federal system.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
This case was done in a partnership between Kentucky State Police, the Todd County Sheriff’s Department, the ATF of Louisville and the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.
