Hopkinsville Police arrested 47-year-old Daniel Hightower of Hopkinsville after reportedly speeding, fleeing from officers, leaving the scene of an accident and resisting arrest on Monday.

According to a report from police, an officer noticed Hightower driving northbound on Virginia Street behind them and honking his horn. Hightower allegedly crossed into the southbound lane, driving in between the lanes and allegedly hit another vehicle before continuing at a high rate of speed.

The officer then activated their emergency equipment in an attempt to pull Hightower over, but reportedly he did not stop and drove across the southbound lane and onto to the sidewalk to avoid traffic.

Hightower then allegedly drove back into the northbound lane and turned right onto West 17th Street and reportedly ran two stop signs before turning left onto Canton Street and into the Jennie Stuart Health Medical Center Emergency Room entrance.

Hightower was charged with speeding, first degree fleeing or evading police, disregarding a stop sign, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, first-degree disorderly conduct and leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid or assistance.
