Atmos Energy will begin an infrastructure investment project in Crofton, in an effort to replace roughly 5,700 feet of pipe in the community.
According to a news release, the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Pipeline Replacement Program for its service territories in Kentucky, allowing Atmos to replace bare steel and other aging infrastructure. There will be approximately 66 service lines affected by the project that will replace 5,675 feet of pipe.
Service lines run from the street to the house, and Atmos Energy will work with each homeowner as necessary. There will be no charge to the customer in this process.
Work will begin on Church Street from Clara Street to North Anderson, on North Anderson from Church Street to North Old Madisonville Road, then on North Old Madisonville from Kelvin Drive to 235 North Old Madisonville, on Clara Street from Kelvin over to North Old Madisonville and then on U.S. 41 from KY 800 to 227 U.S. 41.
Atmos Energy will work with local officials should road closures become necessary as the project progresses, with an anticipated completion date set for December. The project is projected to cost approximately $558,000.
