local theater prepares to scare with “Young Frankenstein” musical

Getting into the Halloween spirit, Campanile Productions is closing out the year with their musical production of Mel Brooks’ “Young Frankenstein.”

Performing their first show for the community in 2009, Campanile is a local theater production group. Jeff Riggs from Campanile’s Board of Directors appeared on WHOP to share this week’s show will entail.

“Young Frankenstein” is based around the 1974 film of the same title where the grandson of Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania and finds himself following the same scientist footsteps as his grandfather and bringing a creature to life. With some adult humor, Riggs says the show is rated PG-13.

The show’s cast and crew have been rehearsing since August, and Riggs says they looks forward to performing this show and invites the community to come and enjoy it.

Riggs says “Young Frankenstein” will have multiple special effects with some of them notably occurring during a nightmare sequence where there will be a giant Frankenstein monster puppet.

Starting on Wednesday there will be five showings of “Young Frankenstein.” Wednesday showing is Campanile’s “Pay What You Can” Final Dress Rehearsal. The show is first come first serve and attendees can donate however much they want to for seats.

Tickets for the Friday through Sunday showings are on sale and can be bought at campanileproductions.com or at the door. On Wednesday through Saturday the show will start at 7 p.m. and on Sunday the show will start at 2:30 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre.

Riggs says Campanile will return in March 2024 with a production of Cinderella.
