City officials talk fire safety, new HPD look, online services

The City of Hopkinsville has several departments that are working on community projects this month, along with getting updates to service and equipment.

City Public Information Officer Chris Jung appeared on WHOP recently and says the City of Hopkinsville is staying busy, especially the Hopkinsville Fire Department and Hopkinsville Police Department. October is Fire Prevention Week, and the fire department has been giving tips and advice on their Facebook page all month—Jung says the number one cause of house fires is cooking.

The police department has a new friend in Bolo, the shelter dog they recently adopted, and they’re also boasting of a new look on their upcoming police cruisers.

Jung says citizens can also take advantage of the ability to pay their property taxes online for the second year in a row, which is available on the City of Hopkinsville website.

Residents can of course still pay their property tax in the traditional ways, by mailing them to P.O. Box 707, Hopkinsville, KY 42241 or bring them in-person to 715 South Virginia Street from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
