Oak Grove woman claims $2 million in lottery winnings

An Oak Grove woman has claimed $2 million in winnings, after winning the prize from the Kentucky Lottery Powerball recently.

After taxes, she was cut a check for just over $1.4 million—she and her family say they plan to donate some of that money to their church, and purchase a larger home and a new vehicle. According to the Kentucky Lottery, she purchased a total of six Powerball tickets.

The winning ticket matched the five white ball numbers winning the game’s $1 million second prize.  Since adding Power Play to her tickets, her prize doubled from $1 million to $2 million.

The $1.73 billion Powerball jackpot was won by someone in California, reducing the prize back down to only $20 million.
