Ned Breathitt Dinner set for Saturday in Hopkinsville

The Christian County Democratic Executive Committee is inviting the community to attend the Edward T. “Ned” Breathitt Dinner this coming Saturday.

The dinner will take place at the Pioneers Complex at 904 North Main Street Saturday starting at 6 p.m., according to a news release, and the guest speakers will be candidate for state treasurer Democrat Michael Bowman, and Colmon Elridge, the chair of the Kentucky Democratic Party.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a buffet dinner by the Pioneers, the presentation of the Edward T. “Ned” Breathitt Award and a silent auction.  Tickets will be available at the door and are $30 each—they can also be purchased through dinner committee chairperson Pam Dossett.

Governor Breathitt was known for his work at the federal level in passing the Civil Rights Act in 1964 during his tenure as Governor. He led the passage of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act in 1966, the first of its kind in the south.
