On Wednesday night, University Heights Academy competed against Christian County High in what was a defensive showcase for both teams.
Through regulation and overtime, both teams remained scoreless which ultimately made a final penalty kick round the decider.
After a tremendous save by goalkeeper Que Quarles and a game-winning kick by Clayton Lester, UHA went on to win 5-3 in PK’s to become district champions.
Clayton Lester shared his thoughts on his goal to seal the win.
In a game where his team struggled to find the back of the net, head coach Josh Nichols explained what he was telling his team throughout the tough battle.
Moving forward, both UHA and Christian County will advance to play in the 2nd Region Tournament.
