Hopkinsville man charged with assault, DUI in connection with August crash

Hopkinsville police have served a warrant against a Hopkinsville man for DUI and assault in relation to a crash on East 12th Street in August. 

The warrant was served against 22-year-old Emmanuel Francisco Ixcol Lopez is for charges of first-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, DUI, and several traffic violations. He is lodged in the Christian County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

As previously reported, on August 15, a vehicle driven by Lopez turned eastbound onto East 12th Street and struck a parked car head-on. The collision launched the parked vehicle into a group of a pedestrians that were standing nearby and witnesses at the scene told officers that the vehicle driven by Lopez accelerated prior to hitting the parked car.

Lopez was flown to Skyline Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash. 

One of the pedestrians, Nyjana Kembrough, was also flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for injuries to the head and hand, while three other pedestrians were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
