Clock tower restoration fundraiser set to transport guests to the 1980s

Rewinding back to the 1980s, the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County are hosting a retro themed fundraiser focused on restoring Hopkinsville’s Ninth Street clock tower after it was damaged by severe weather in April.

Director of the Museums, Alissa Keller appeared on WHOP to share what their upcoming fundraiser will entail. Keller says the fundraiser is 1980s themed which was inspired by a part of the storyline from the “Back to the Future” movies.

Mixtape – 80s Tribute Band is set to perform hits from the decade by artists and bands such as Journey, Bon Jovi, Huey Lewis & The News, Van Halen, Tears for Fears, Chicago, Peter Gabriel and much more.

Another element set to transport attendees to the 1980s will be the event’s dinner menu. Keller says some of the food items will being paying homage to microwavable meals from the decade.

The fundraiser will be on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the band starting at 6:30 p.m. on Liberty Street between the Pennyrile Area Museum and First Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $50 per person and all of the proceeds will go toward restoring the clock tower. Tickets can be bought at eventbrite.com.

Keller encourages attendees to dress in their best 1980s gear.
